BMW introduces iPerformance plug-in hybrid family

A few years ago, the debut of the BMW i3 electric hatchback and BMW i8 hybrid sports car revolutionized the BMW lineup. Their innovative blend of luxury, performance, and efficiency now inspires the next phase of greener BMW performance, and it is called BMW iPerformance.

The iPerformance platform takes gasoline-powered vehicles from the current BMW lineup and infuses them with plug-in hybrid technology. These greener updates touch on the lavish 7 Series, the rugged X Series, and best-selling 3 Series. The plug-in hybrid variants debuted at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show in mid-November and received rave reviews. They are powered by the award-winning 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline four-cylinder engine and an electric motor.
