What is the BMW I Inside Future Concept?

With every new BMW comes more innovative technologies that push the boundaries of what we think of as a typical driving experience. With more autonomous technology available, BMW can expand upon other aspects of the driving experience while the car is in control for longer period of time. This 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) saw the introduction of the BMW i Inside Future Concept. This innovative interior includes HoloActive Touch technology, which is quite literally holographic images that seem to float above the console area. The best part about this concept is that it's real. While it's not available in a production vehicle, these futuristic technologies have been brought to fruition, and you really can experience these holographic features for yourself -- if you attended 2017 CES, of course. You can catch a glimpse of this revolutionary technology via the Kelley Blue Book video clip below. We encourage you to stop by the BMW of Devon showroom to experience the latest BMW technology firsthand.

2017 BMW vehicles earn top safety ratings

BMW has a long-standing commitment to safety and innovation. Investment in these important values is what decorates its class-leading vehicles with so many accolades. Recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded two of the brand's newest models in one of the industry's most coveted honors. Both the 2017 BMW 2 Series Coupe and 2017 BMW 3 Series Sedan recently received the highest designation from the IIHS, the Top Safety Pick+ award. Both model had to meet five crashworthiness tests as well as receive top rating for front crash prevention and headlights. You can learn more about the latest 3 Series Sedan via the Consumer Reports video review below, as well as by test driving the new BMW 3 Series near Philadelphia for yourself. Feel free to stop by the BMW of Devon showroom to experience the 2 Series Coupe and 3 Series Sedan firsthand, as well as to learn more about these and other top-safety-rated BMW models from our knowledgeable sales consultants.

What's new for the 2017 BMW 5 Series?

We are entering the seventh generation of the big and beautiful BMW 5 Series, which means we have a thorough redesign to look forward to. This sport sedan made its debut at the recent 2017 North American International Auto Show, and it shows off a longer yet lighter body that we think Philadelphia area drivers will really enjoy. The 2017 BMW 5 Series was unveiled alongside the 2018 BMW X2 concept as a new motorcycle. The soon-to-be 5 Series sheds roughly 137 pounds thanks to all-new architecture. This weight loss results in gains in trunk space and rear-seat legroom. A new head-up display joins many other high-tech amenities. There are also two available engines -- a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with the 530i and a 3.0-liter straight-six for the 540i. You can catch a glimpse of the 2017 redesign via the auto show footage below. We invite you to visit the BMW of Devon showroom to experience any of the new BMW models for yourself. Our staff of BMW experts can also give you more information about upcoming redesigns and releases.

BMW holographic control interface makes 2017 CES debut

When you think of a brand new BMW vehicle, what items come to mind? A plush interior? Potent and smooth performance? Comfort-oriented features? The latest concept to come out of BMW is something no one saw coming -- unless you've been watching science fiction movies or heard about BMW's promise of a holographic control interface at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It's called HoloActive Touch technology, and it's part of the BMW i Inside Future Concept. With HoloActive, the graphics seem to float over the console, and for the auto show, these graphics included buttons to control features. The system sends a vibration to confirm your touch selection. Even a phone call brings up a full color image of the caller. The technology utilizes a console-mounted projector, a camera, and a speaker. The camera is similar to the one used for gesture control in the BMW 7 Series and 5 Series vehicles. BMW says this concept could be a future form if its current iDrive control system. The brand is dedicated to making it bringing this idea to fruition, and we're excited to see what the future holds -- or what the i Inside Future holds, that is. You can see the holographic technology in the 2017 CES footage below, and you can learn more about upcoming BMW features from the sales consultants here at BMW of Devon. We encourage you to visit our Main Line showroom to experience the very latest in BMW technology for yourself.

Will the BMW M2 receive the CS treatment?

Remember when we announced the debut of the premier BMW M2 Coupe? BMW is giving us another reason to talk about this powerful sports car. A brand-new version of the M2 was recently spotted in Munich, and rumors are it's an all-new BMW M2 CS. This new variant will most likely be powered by the twin-turbo inline six-cylinder S55 engine, which is used in the M3 and M4 models as well. It's estimated that this engine will be modified to generate roughly 400 horsepower, which we're confident will propel it to the top of its class. The M2 lineup is estimated to begin production in Summer 2017. We encourage you to watch the brief spy footage below, which catches the upcoming BMW M2 CS, clad in camouflage, testing on the track. Be sure to reach out to the BMW of Devon staff for more information on this exciting 2018 model, as well as visit our showroom to see the current BMW M Series high-performance vehicles available.
