Bringing the BMW i3 to life

Before long, the very first BMW i3 will be joining the ranks of our lineup. Seeing as it's not every day that a purely-electric vehicle joins the ranks of our lineup, one can imagine our excitement here at BMW of Devon.

Now, as much as we can bend your ear about everything it will have to offer, there's only so much we can tell you about how it was created. Lucky for all of us, our favorite automaker recently took the opportunity to answer all our burning questions.

Needless to say, you'll want to give a watch to the video below.

So, until this green machine makes its way to our dealership here in Devon, PA, the experts in our car parts department would be more than happy to fill you in. Or if you'd like to tide yourself over with a test drive in the 2014 BMW ActiveHybrid 3, your chariot awaits today.

BMW considers carbon-fiber wheels

With the upcoming arrival of the BMW i8 hybrid sports car, we don't think it's a stretch to call our favorite automaker a trend-setter. It's just one of the many reasons they just keep on impressing us here at BMW of Devon, because while other automakers might be content with following the pack, it invariably seems like they're the ones trying to lead it. And now we've caught wind of what they're bringing to our wheels, our lineup may never be the same. Now, when we say "wheels," we're not using it as a slang term to refer to our models as a whole. We mean the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) wheels that BMW plans to offer on our lineup within the next two years. If you're not a bonafide gearhead like the experts in our car parts department, allow us to elaborate on why we're all so excited. From what we've heard, the new wheels will be either be 100% CFRP or will boast a CFRP rim with alloy spikes. The full-CFRP option will be 35% lighter than forged alloy wheels while the alloy hybrid will be 25% lighter, both of which will make for a noticeable decrease in unsprung rotation weight. If everything comes to fruition, BMW would be the first OEM to offer CFRP wheels on their lineup. And if all goes according to plan, they may also offer carbon fiber steering wheels and propeller shafts. Needless to say, we'll be crossing our fingers. So, until we hear more on the matter, feel free to tide yourself over with a test drive in the 2014 BMW M5 at our dealership here in Devon, PA. Trust us, it helps with the wait.

Prepare Your BMW With Winter Service At BMW Of Devon

With winter well on its way, there's much to prepare for, especially in your BMW car or SAV. Not only do you need to ensure that your routine maintenance is up to date, but you should also have winter service performed to prepare for the cold season ahead. What Type of Winter Services Should I Have Done? Besides the typical routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, brake inspections, and multi-point inspections, there are winter seasonal services that are recommended for every Malvern, Villanova, or other PA driver. These winter services include: Tire Changes – Some Berwyn, Wayne, or Norristown area drivers prefer to change their summer tires over to winter tires for better protection against the snow and ice. Winter tires are designed with a more flexible rubber for better temperature change protection as well as with a thicker tire tread. These characteristics help your BMW get you where you need to be with ease, no matter what type of inclement weather may appear. Battery Changes – Your car's battery can be affected by the freezing temperatures. Be sure that the battery is well-charged and won't leave you stranded in the cold. Heater Inspection – During the winter weather, your car's heater can be a lifesaver. Not only will it keep you warm while you drive, but it will also help you see the road clearly. Make sure that the heater is working properly and blowing hot air when required. And Much More! – If something isn't working right with your vehicle, have it taken care of before the winter arrives. It's much easier to deal with when it's warmer out. Contact BMW of Devon to Schedule Your Winter Service Appointment If you're looking for winter service near King of Prussia, Devon, or beyond, we recommend scheduling an appointment with our service center. Our certified BMW technicians will take care of your BMW car or SAV in no time!
