Long live the king of tech-savvy sophistication. The majestic 2016 BMW 7 Series carries on the legacy of its predecessors with all-new technologies that further set it apart from its full-size luxury sedan competition. It's no secret that this BMW flagship has always been and will continue to be the epitome of high-tech luxury, and we here at BMW of Devon are eager to introduce our Philadelphia, Main Line Suburbs, Berwyn and Wayne PA area customers to all of the innovative additions the brand has made to this upcoming model.
We'll start with the heart of it all -- the powertrain. The 2016 model can come fitted as a rear-wheel-drive twin-turbocharged inline six or an all-wheel-drive twin-turbo V8. Both come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission (and a new plug-in hybrid model will debut at a later date). This year' s addition of carbon fiber parts makes for significant weight reduction and improved rigidity. One of the most talked about fresh features is automated parking assist. While most park assist systems require the driver to shift when instructed, this "valet parking assist" doesn't even need you to be in the car. The 7 Series is now capable of navigating itself into tight parallel and perpendicular parking spaces using only the display key remote. It's only the second car on the market to offer remote self-parking.
Another fresh feature includes gesture controls, which allow you to navigate the infotainment system by merely waving or swiping in front of the infotainment screen. (You can still use your old-fashioned hands to explore the touchscreen, as well.) While the driver is pampered by a suite of high-tech driver assistance features, voice-controlled amenities, and a next-generation head-up display, those sitting in the available Executive Lounge will probably have the best seat in the house. From massaging and reclining seats and built-in Wi-Fi to a fold-out table, electric-powered footrests and BMW's Touch Command tablet computer for access to all sorts of entertainment and comfort features, the 7 Series is practically an everyday limo. And don't forget about the new LED panoramic Sky Lounge of stunning ambient lighting.
Even with all of these high-tech firsts and elaborate passenger conveniences, the 2016 BMW 7 Series still boasts a sleek, simple and sophisticated design.
